    Driver Training and Assessment

    Though the Drivers possess Valid Driving Licences issued by various state transport departments, their genuine driving skills are doubtful because they had never gone to a genuine driver training school/institute – since a very few of such facilitation centre exist in India. All their learning came from actual driving and on-the-job learning under the supervision of their own family members/friends who themselves were drivers and inducted in the profession in the same way i.e., without any proper training and certification.     The Driver Upgrade Programme enables existing drivers to get their skills assessed by Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) by its empanelled experts. They will identify skill gaps and train these drivers to qualify for certification. This Programme will be conducted in association with ASDC.

    Business enterprises, without exception, are keen on ensuring safe and secure passage of their cargo: raw materials into manufacturing plants and finished products to market shelves. Beyond their factory gates/distributing centres, they have no control over their own cargo and drivers. Lack of education and absence of respect for road safety regulations by drivers is a reality.

    This challenge will be met through regular Road Safety Awareness Programmes (RSAP) targeted at drivers. TransportMitra will organise such RSAPs with domain experts at factory gates, highway dhabas, transport hubs and interstate borders where the target group halt for long hours for a variety of reasons. The RSAP will begin with the necessity of wearing seat belt and cover issues such as the avoidance of night time driving to drunken driving etc. that results in road mishaps and claim precious lives and damaged cargo.

    TransportMitra will monitor the impact of knowledge-sharing on drivers at regular intervals through innovative usage of technology and selective and surprise on-the-spot check ups on customer-specified key routes.


    Driver Wellness Programme

    Long haul drivers are away from home for longer durations and their job is tiresome: physically and mentally. Thus they are susceptible to health breakdown. Prevention is better than cure. Hence periodic health check up is a necessity.

    TransportMitra, in association with various stakeholders, will conduct Driver Wellness Programme (DWP). DWP will be organised at strategic locations such as factory gates, highway dhabas, transport hubs and interstate borders to check general health, vision, lifestyle diseases, de-addiction, blood & urine check ups etc.

    Long haul drivers are one of the biggest carriers of HIV AIDS. The DWP will spread the awareness about the ill-effects of unsafe sex among the target group and help them check their vulnerability to this dreaded killer disease. In addition, TransportMitra will advocate the usage of condom/rubber as a safe sex tool.

    With the usage of technology, DWP charts will be made available online for access to Drivers Wellness history for prompt and effective healthcare management anywhere, anytime.

    Dhaba Adoption Programme

    Dhaba Adoption Programme (DAP) is the flagship initiative of TransportMitra which will address two critical issues viz., raising drivers’ self esteem and also create basic amenities such as clean toilets and hygienic dhabas. This will be in conjuction with the Prime Minister’s Swatch Bharat drive. It is a well known fact that dhabas are the best touch point for driver interaction where they feel at home. That is why, TransportMitra is picking on dhabas on highways for this flagship initiative.

    TransportMitra will assist Corporates to adopt dhabas and sustain on customer-specified key routes 24X365 days and involve their employees as part of CSR Employee Engagement programme on a long term basis.

    At these locations and the nominated factory gates , programmes such as Driver Wellness, Road Safety Awareness Campaigns, Training & Certification Programmes etc. will be conducted on a regular basis. In addition to hygienic surroundings in and around dhabas, TransportMitra will advocate good and healthy food habits to bolster Driver Wellness.
